Approx. 24 Martens, captured in Northern MN, were released in the Clam Lake region of the Chequemegon-Nicolet NF. Planned in 2007, this is the first of three projected annual released. Joint program of GLIFWC, DNR, and USFS. "Martens were extirpated from WI in 1925 following unregulated take and habitat changes. The population in the NW part of the state was reestablished in the late 1980s through a release program but has since declined."
