The author states that a baby porcupine is a porcupette. However, "porcupette" is not in Webster's Third International, the O.E.D., nor the Random House Unabridged dictionaries. A search of web dictionaries shows the word, but without any examples of prior usage. Scientific sites do not seem to use the word, except that of the San Diego Zoo, which refers to a porcupine baby at the zoo as a "porcupette." The word is also used in a computer game, "WOW".
