The Department of Natural Resources has been keeping the public informed through a regular print periodical for more than 100 years. Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine began in 1977 as the latest in a line of publications that included the Wisconsin Conservation Bulletin and, before that, The Wisconsin Conservationist.
Past issues of Wisconsin Natural Resources are available in our magazine archives through the UW-Madison Libraries Digital Collections [exit DNR]. That free searchable page-by-page collection includes issues from 1977-1995. (Note: Magazine content from 1996 and newer is being added to the UWDC site, so those years may be temporarily unavailable.)
Issues of the Wisconsin Conservation Bulletin are available as well, through the HathiTrust Digital Library. This is a not-for-profit collaborative of academic and research libraries that features more than 17 million digitized items, often historic in nature. To find the Conservation Bulletin, go to hathitrust.org [exit DNR] and type "Wisconsin Conservation Bulletin" in the search line. All available years, dating back to the 1930s, are open for full and free view. The Hathi Trust has available all issues of the Bulletin, except Vol. 1 (1-7) which was mimeographed. All are free access to the public. The Wisconsin Historical Society Library has hard copies of Vol. 1 (1-7).
The Wisconsin Historical Society Library has the Wisconsin Conservationist: Vol 1, no. 1-v. 4, no. 5; Mar. 1919-July/Sept./Nov. 1922. It is not clear from the DRN website, nor the Historical Society Catalog what, if anything, in these series was published between 1922 and 1936.
