UW Madison has the original edition, as well as a 1996 edition.
The focus is on the area much closer to Lake Superior than Vilas County. It does mention an early road to Lac du Flambeau (pp. 1 & 2), an interesting (but perhaps dated) description of Chippewa arrival in the area and their conflicts with other tribes Chapter 2). It contains an interesting history of European sovereignty over the area, as well as successive American authorities, beginning with Virginia (!) and ending with the Stare of Wisconsin (pp. 63-65).
