Nicolet Area Technical College, Rhinelander, Wisconsin
The Nicolet Area Technical College (NATC) is operated by the Nicolet College District, a governmental and taxing agency of the State of Wisconsin which encompasses Vilas, Oneida and Forest Counties and parts of Lincoln, Langlade and Iron Counties. The school is located in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and offers undergraduate Associate Degree programs as well as various certificate programs.
It was founded in 1967 as Nicolet College and Technical Institute, and changed to the present name in 1987. In 1969 the North Central Associate of Colleges and Schools granted it correspondent status and full accreditation in 1975.
It has approximately 1200 undergraduate students of which slightly more than half are part-time. 99% are from Wisconsin. There are about 3,000 non-credit students. It has a satellite campus in Minocqua, called the Lakeland Campus. In 2008 "UW-Green Bay and Nicolet Area Technical College (NATC) in Rhinelander...formed a partnership to offer UUW-Green Bay courses at NATC starting this fall.... Classes in Rhinelander, combined with online courses and, in some cases, occasional trips to Green Bay for students, will enable more North Woods residents to earn a UW-Green Bay bachelor's degree."
