Fish Stocking
"A Gift that Spawns Great Lakes Fisheries" in Wisconsin Natural Resources states that, among other species, the Les Voigt Fish Hatchery in Bayfield grows lake trout, and they are placed in Trout Lake and Lake Superior, among other lakes.
Ice Coverage
"On the Great Lakes" in the Baltimore Sun reported that the ice coverage on Lake Superior on March 8, 2019, was ay 95%. At this time of year in 2018 it was about 50% and in 2017 only 7%. This was the first time in four years that Superior has had more than 90% ice coverage. It was due to weather patterns that held frigid air over the region in January and February.
