Skiing
There are ski hills in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan which can easily be visited from the Star Lake area. Since the 1970's there has been an increased interest in cross country skiing. Three ski facilities in the local area are worth noting:
Mus-Ski Mountain, beyond Sayner on Highway N. It was a small ski hill, opening for its first full season in 1957. Now closed.
At one time King's Gateway Lodge in Land O'Lake had a small ski jump. It is pictured on a number of photos (including post cards) of the area.
